Consumers Seek Long-Term Effects to Maximize Value in Spa Packages
Kansas City-Area Sunlight Day Spa Includes Infrared Sauna Session in O Loves It Package
Overland Park, KS — A recent Ispsos/Reuters survey shows that consumer confidence is stabilizing after a long decline, and that three-quarters of homeowners who have cut spending are cautiously looking to spend again. That caution often means considering the long-term value of an expenditure. For some day spa clients, this translates to a desire for treatments and packages offering extended impact.
“People don’t want to wake up the morning after a day spa visit feeling as stressed as usual,” said Julie Palitto, Manager of Kansas City-area Sunlight Day Spa. “We’ve seen a greater appreciation of treatments like far infrared sauna therapy as part of the spa visit. It’s short-term gratification coupled with longer-term benefits like weight loss, detoxification, heart health and more vibrant skin.”
To provide that lasting impact for clients, Sunlight Day Spa has created the O Loves It Package, which includes a massage or facial, an infrared sauna session and a subscription to Oprah Winfrey’s O Magazine. The package references the appearance of Sunlight Saunas on the Oprah Winfrey Show as part of a Dr. Oz feature on longevity. Originally aired on March 24, the episode is scheduled to re-air on Tuesday, June 30.
A June 2009 survey of International Spa Association delegates identified preventive health as the industry’s greatest opportunity for growth. “A spa visit can be a little luxury offering comfort in uncertain times,” said Palitto. “But if an aspect of that visit could mean living healthier and reducing medical expenditures, it becomes significantly more than that.”
